The world of work both in the manufacturing and service has gone through a major transformation in the recent times. The highly competitive, educated blue collar workforce has generated new challenges to Management, Trade Unions and Industrial Relations. NIPM Mumbai Chapter organized a conference on "New Mandate for Industrial Relations" on Friday 8th January, 2016 at Four Points by Sheraton, Navi Mumbai, Vashi. National Institute of Personnel Management (NIPM) is one of the oldest and the most respected institution engaged in personnel management, industrial relations, labour welfare and human resources development. It is a non-profit making body devoted to the development of skill and expertise of the professionals through regular lecture, meetings, seminars, training courses, conferences and publication in its chapters all over the country. The conference had a rich blend of corporate stalwarts who discussed their experiences and gave insights to various strategies they adopted to deal with these challenges in changing times. Mr. Vivek Paranjpe - Strategic Advisor, Reliance Industries; Mr. D. M. Katre - Site President, Reliance Industries; Mr. K. N. Vaidyanathan - Chief Risk Officer - Mahindra & Mahindra; Dr. D. K. Srivastava - Professor, TISS; Mr. Uday Gupta - Managing Director, Mahindra Sanyo; Mr. Uday Mahale - President, Siemens Workers Union and Mr. R.S.S. Mani - Vice President Institutional Development, ITM Group of Institutions were some of the professionals who shared their experiences with the audience. Dr. Farida Virani, Professor and HOD (HR & Behavioural Sciences) at MET School of Business and Executive Committee Member NIPM was the Master of Ceremony. She received accolades from both the NIPM office bearers and the audience for her poise, presence and her well researched comments about the topics discussed which added value. They also appreciated the rapport and the personal touch she shared with the audience.
